Doctor Who Planet of the Dead
2009 Easter Special

The world’s most popular and probably best known Doctor Who returns with David Tennant reprising his definitive 21st century interpretation of the highly intelligent and quirky doctor.

Unfortunately as per usual, things go awry for the Doctor upon a bus trip through London that has the bus and its passengers being drawn through a wormhole into another dimension or planet.

As they are drawn into another world, everyone on board the bus is in danger and the Doctor joins forces with Lady Christina de Souza, a beautiful and mysterious lady played by the delightful and talented Michelle Ryan (Bionic Woman) to aid our hero.

Sadly the sands of time are falling fast and a deadly swarm threatens all on board the bus, unless the Doctor and his companion can figure out the solution to their current predicament.

This current story is filled with classic Doctor Who plots, clichés and comedy which only assist with the story telling. At times, the plot seems a little forced and almost setup such as Lady Christina luckily finding a bus after she just stole an antiquity from a museum, however this is what Doctor Who is all about.

Add in the deadly “swarm” special effects which are actually quite impressive for a TV series and things become dire for all involved. Michelle Ryan really gets into her character and the relationship between the two is interesting and hopefully we’ll be seeing more of Lady Christina and the Doctor in future episodes.

There are also some great comical moments by Lee Evans as Dr. Taylor, a scientists who is attempting to “create” or normalise the theories about what just happened and the banter is just pure entertaining. The other passengers also add to the atmosphere of the story which include drama, comedy and action and it’s great to see Tennant portray the Doctor again.

With amazing video and audio quality, this is almost like a cinematic presentation that will keep all Doctor Who fans happy.
