Dark Crystal Anniversary Edition

One my favourite movies from childhood arrives on DVD again, celebrating its anniversary which features some of Jim Henson's most imaginative and creative creatures. Best of all, the creatures in Dark Crystal are all puppets and this was before the day of CGI (computer generated images) where everything needed to be manually painstakingly created. The 20th anniversary of Dark Crystal features high definition audio and video transfers with some extremely interesting behind the scene featurettes of this 1980's classic fantasy movie.

Dark Crystal revolves around a mystical crystal which is the source of balance for truth on this strange world that is filled with wondrous creatures where a divide between two factions, the nefarious and dark Skeksis and the peaceful Mystics. An astrological event is about to take place on this world that is the convergence of three suns and if the Crystal is not healed before this event, the world will thrown into a perpetual darkness.

Joined by Jen, a Gelfling who is the last of his race, he must fulfil an ancient prophecy by healing the crystal. This classic adventure fantasy movie features an engaging storyline, relatable characters and good old fashioned puppetry that still looks good today.

A classic tale of good versus evil.

The video quality of Dark Crystal is quite impressive which is presented in an aspect ratio of 16:9 widescreen with exceptionally sharp and vivid colours and considering the age of the film, it is quite impressive.

Match that with Dolby Digital 5.1 and you have another cinematic experience. Those who enjoy Special Features will be pleased to know that there are two new documentaries and some great interviews with the creators of Dark Crystal.

Special Features:

Slipcase Packaging
High-def film transfer
2 NEW Behind-the-Scenes documentaries featuring re-discovered footage and 6interviews with the creators
Making-of Documentary
